Film Friday - 1

Kaylah and I were at an estate sale a few weeks ago when I spotted a table with a Canon TL and several lenses. I had been looking for a good deal on an old 35mm SLR for a while and the price was very good to say the least so I pulled the trigger and I'm glad I did. I love shooting with film however I'm notorious for accidentally opening the backs of cameras and exposing the film hence the light leaks. I guess that's just what happens when you're rough on equipment like I am. I'm ok with it though. For me the light leaks, grain, and all the other imperfections are just part of the beauty of shooting with film.

I was part of a small group of photographers invited to tour and photograph the historic Pilgrim Church in Tremont. The building was incredible and the view from the bell tower was awesome!

Overall I was pretty happy with the results from my first two rolls of film. I'm just a few frames away from finishing my next two rolls so look for those photos next week or the week after.

Ice Climbing

Two of my favorite things in life are friends and adventures, lucky for me I have some very adventurous friends. This is Mike and Ian; kayakers, rock climbers, and ice climbers when the ice is available. This was my first trip out with them and before we could even begin I had to put on a harness while Mike gave me a quick lesson is rappelling. A couple minutes later and I was descending into a gorge and down a frozen waterfall.

The frozen and snow covered gorge was beautiful and I could have spent the morning just photographing that, but that's not why I was there. I was there to document my friends climbing sixty foot icicles.

Mike is one of the ballsiest guys that I know. I've seen him tackle heights that would bring a normal person to tears. His life is one adventure after another.

This was probably one of my most favorite shoots I've ever done. It was a true adventure and I look forward to similar adventures in the future.
