Road Trip: Day 3 - Wildlife

One of the great things about traveling is seeing different wildlife. The Pacific Coast was full of wildlife and most were more than happy to pose for photos. The squirrels were so friendly that they not only eat out of your hand, but climb up into your lap if you let them.

I was excited to see the Elephant Seals. In Northeast Ohio we have dear and the occasional Black Bear, but nothing like these seals. These guys are huge! They're also pretty loud and smelly, but they're so much fun to watch.

When we stopped at the Elephant Seal rookery we were immediately greeted by dozens of squirrels looking for handouts. The signs said not to feed them so we just pretended that we had food and that seemed to work as the squirrels would surround us as soon as we squatted down and held out our hands.

The Elephant Seals were so entertaining to watch. They would cuddle and spoon, throw sand on themselves, and wrestle.

Those little hands.

It was at this moment that Kaylah burst into tears, completely overjoyed that a squirrel had just hopped into her lap and calmly sat there while we talked to some strangers.

Photos taken with a Canon 6D, using a Canon 20mm f/2.8, Canon 135mm f/2.0, and Canon 35mm f/1.4.
