Out West: Day Three

Day three started with a visit to Noah Purifoy's Outdoor Museum in Joshua Tree after one of Kaylah's Instagram followers recommended that we check it out. Despite the extreme heat we spent quite a bit of time here. It proved to be a great recommendation. The dozens of sculptures were beautiful against their desert backdrop.

After leaving Joshua Tree we stopped for gas and poked around the accompanying gift shop and cafe looking for tacky souvenirs. Throughout the trip I was always surprised at how much graffiti and street art there was in these places that seemed so remote.

Almost immediately after entering Arizona we started seeing saguaro cacti. We had to stop to get photos.

Photos taken with a Canon Mark III, with a Canon 20mm f/2.8 lens.

  1. I love that you two came after I mentioned it on instagram. Not everybody loves the desert, but there is seriously so much crazy and far out there art for people to see. Noah Purify is one of many. if you ever come out again, I'd love to give you both some more recommendations.
